Pujari
Committee - As of July
30th, 2006, the Hindu Center found a temporary replacement
priest to help in the temple's functions. This has allowed
Mr. Indradev Mishra (Facility Manager) to scale back the on the
double duty he had been so bravely committing for so many months
to benefit the temple.
The new Pujari,
Shri Varadaraj Bhattar started his services on the Anniversary
Program of the Hindu Center with Abhishekam. Mr. Bhattar
belongs to a family of priests dating back 14
generations.
The Pujari
Committe would like to specifically acknowledge the
efforts of Sudhakar Reddy and the Balaji Temple of Pittsburgh,
PA for allowing Mr. Bhattar to remain with us through October
30th, 2006. At this time, the new pujaris from the Hindu
Center shall arrive from India and would be ready to take up the
important duties at our temple.
Facility
Maintenance - Some
of the major work for the renovation of the Priest residence is
almost complete. The new windows have been installed in
both the residences. There were electrical problems which
are being fixed as well as the lack of a new range, washer, and
dryer. All these issues will be resolved by the end of the
month. All the facilities in the campus have designated
building numbers, as well as signage to help first time visitors
and emergency response personnel.
Vihar Hall looks
better than ever, New acoustic panels, stage curtains, and stage
lighting work is progressing well. A beautiful mural of
Jain temple in Delwara, Rajasthan hangs in the main lobby of
Vihar Hall. Our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Tulika
Sawhney for working with all the artists, as well as providing
her services at no charge to our Hindu Center.
Treasurer
- The external audit for 2004 is complete and currently 2005
books are being audited. This should be done by
September. As per the new resolution passed by the Joint
Board of the Hindu Center, for the last 3 month the employees of
the Hindu Center, as well as elected members of the Board are
authorized to issue the donation receipt on the premises.
There are two books kept each with three part forms at the Hindu
Center. One part of the receipt is given to the donor at
the time of the donation, the second will be turned over to the
Treasurer, and the third remains in the book for book
keeping.
All members and
non-members were mailed the July edition of the
newsletter. This total came to 2,700 newletters being
mailed. Thus far we have received 21 corrections and those
have been updated within the system.
LRPC
- All the wiring to connect our buildings has been
completed. We have laid more than two miles worth of wires
to connect the facilities. This week the internal wiring
for each building is scheduled to start.
LRPC held an
emergency meeting on August 6th from 3pm to 6pm and discussed
the policies modified or amended this year. All those
policies have long term implications on how we are going to
manage the affairs in the future. We felt that lots of
members have different views on some policies and those that
were present, agreed that the President and Chairman of the
Board needs to identify the members and hold a joint meeting
with them to iron out the differences. We hope our
recommendations will soon be followed through.
